This is terrible idea of magic sport. There is no way to showcase the so called formula that supposed to be solved and the duration of contact with the ball is impossible for them to complete a formula in 1 or even less of seconds, for the MC maybe. Why not use basketball? It has perfect amount of team member for the side character. Make it the board has a formula set for defence and the shooter must solve the formula while dribbling or something. There is plausible amount of time for the them to solve and come up with a defence formula, and they still need the atlethicism for shooting, dribbling etc.

…It’s boring. But, I’ll bore through it. 
This was a terrible idea for a story arc
At this rate there’s going to be 10 more chapters and it’s still not done yet 
quite the boring arc. We can’t see the “depth” of formulas, so it looks like plain beginner volleyball – which isn’t what we’re expecting from this series. Hope it’ll end soon
