- the MC’s childhood friend is not showing much promise, unclear as to what the real situation is, but none of the ones that come to mind are suggest she is worthwhile.
- she was a flaky, gold digger to begin with
- she has been corrupted by the king (or similar)
- she has been mind-controlled
- she is gullible/manipulated/coerced
- probably a lost cause in any event … but I wouldn’t be surprised the MC will think that they can ‘cure/rescue’ her – PoF/MoF etc or some deus ex machina shit.
