A brief description of the manga A Drunk Thief Bought a Slave Girl:
A hangover leads to a shared life between a thief and a slave girl.
Harris is an adventurer who works as a thief and scout, a job that is often shunned due to poor reputation.
One day he gets drunk and buys a slave girl, Tiana. Tiana, who had been treated badly and not given enough food until then, comes to adore Harris, who treats her kindly, as her master. Harris, who had been hoping that Tiana would grow up to be a beautiful woman, is gradually drawn to her because of her innocence.
Harris’ life changes drastically when he begins living with Tiana: warm meals, freshly washed clothes, and interaction with the townspeople who had never come close to him before. On the other hand, he finds himself in more and more troublesome situations, will he manages to escape from them with his skill and tact…?
This is the story of the “rebirth” of a shabby thief, which begins with an encounter with a slave girl.
This is a challenging review, because the world of the story has things we consider evil in our modern worldview, and it’s not an isekai, so MC never really considers them, they are just the facts of life. It makes for incredibly rich story, because the characters have serious flaws and yet are also capable of genuine decency, and even though they are completely foreign, you really have feelings about it. If you are brave and mature, it’s an incredible mirror of your own failings. It’s a pretty basic adventure/SOL style heartwarming uncle fantasy, yet real enough that it is genuinely uncomfortable, which makes this one of the best-written manga I’ve read. I struggle to wait for new chapters, I like the feels so much. It lulls you into that happy fantasy place and then subtly reminds you that horror is living in the same neighborhood, but it never devolves into a simple fight. My highest recommendation, please don’t skip this just because it’s hard to bear.
Summary: An alcoholic middle-aged adventurer gets very drunk and blows his savings on a sex slave. When he sobers up, he has been cheated, and the slave is a malnourished child. Now broke and obliged to become responsible, he discovers a new start was never out of reach, but he does have to deal with his past mistakes.
One thing that this manga could use is a little bit more character development but other than that it is a decent manga

It would be a great story if the whole slavery thing didn’t exist, but there’s just something about him buying a little girl to cook his meals and clean for him and take care of him without compensation that just doesn’t sit right with me. It feels like blatant whitewashing of an extremely cruel and inhumane system that has taken countless people’s life and liberty away from them.
What I mean to say is even though it seems wholesome, the whole concept is extremely fucked up and I found it kind of sickening to read. But that’s just my take and I am in no way justified to be your moral compass so give it a try if you want to.

I like this manga but its too slow for its releases.. gonna forget about it for 2 years. If I’m still alive, I’ll check then.

Kind of interesting – it has some moments which are definitely similar to common tropes, and it seems to swing from the extremes of light-hearted-life to brief gore/incident stuff, back to light-hearted; but if that’s your thing then go for it
The art, however, is

except for the slave and the initial “bad” intention part, this is actually wholesome, and the MC actually grows as a person and forgets about that bad intention he has in the beginning.

Other the usual flaw with slave based stories (author has not slightest idea about slavery so it is idealised modern version) it is really good. Nice writing, decent story, cool drawing. In flood of mediocre manga and manhua this one really shines. I hope it will be updated more often.
