This is an old one from the beginnings of the Isekai genre.

Expect a lot of tropes from the old days, monster eating and gaining powers, harems.

Used to read till the end, skimmed a bunch of novel chapters because I couldn’t bear with the writing at some point… then developed a hatred for the writing style.

It had potential, Hajime’s talking smack against the Hero for his toxic savior’s complex and jealousy.

Still, the hero was annoying as hell and deserved to get axed for so many reasons. I honestly believe the Hero dying wouldn’t affect the story at all, he deserved to die for getting his friends nearly killed because he refused to lose his innocence for the greater good, selfishly refusing to taint his ‘ideal image’ of what a hero should be even at the cost of his friends’ lives.

Would justify his own worst aspects, like his jealousy against Hajime, while casually deluding himself into thinking that being jealous of Hajime because his childhood friends picked him is justice. The kind of dense meathead that is the worst of the worst, a terrible ‘hero’ that doesn’t deserve to be one.

Anyways, this is not the kind of story that can survive the current Isekai meta, so read if you’re nostalgic or something.

I read the novel, much more gruesome (which I liked). And the rabbit people were even more badasz. But the story gets so boring at the end

I’m not wrong, this was one of the first animes I watched, I came to the manga thinking it would be ahead, it was behind and still, here’s some constructive criticism so no one thinks I’m an idiot.
This story starts of well, exciting and doesn’t really do as much cliches as the average ‘class group isekai’ e.g he’s not a moody loner who secretly build up a lvl 8000 special premium+ ultimate gamer account, he’s just a fella with ‘useless’ powers.
He uses those ‘useless’ powers to create guns, which I like because guns are fucking epic.
But then, when they introduced the bunny girl, it all goes downhill from there, he gets a masochist dragon by poking a pig metal pole into her cheeks, a classmate, kisses his teacher… and yeah, the <Harem> cliche happens. He ‘knocks up’ a loli in the anime filler episode, ntrs a fishman at some point…
It just gets unbearable. The story had potential, it’s just sad that the manga and anime follow the LN completely and throws it away like a half-eaten fish.
2/10 don’t bother reading because you will be disappointed

If you’re coming here after the season 3 anime release, chapter 82 is near the end of season 2 events. Best to look up the light novel, if you want spoilers.

I have a screenshot of this with time stamp of 2014, but the web says it released in 2016. :ask:
Was my phone 2 years behind ( doubt it, cuz of web synced clock) or was the actual release prior to the international one and the real release date is missing online? The wikipedia change logs show nuffin of the sorts.

I haven’t read the manga but let me warn you, the novel extremely boring and I had to force myself to read the whole thing. The anime is alright but that means the manga is most likely in a similar situation. You’re better off reading basically any other isekai.
