Murabito desu ga Nani ka?

This had an interesting premise, but the storytelling gets progressively worse, to the extent that I wonder if maybe the author was suffering from accelerating dementia. It’s clear that at the start there was a hidden agenda for MC and a plan to reveal it over time. But each new story arc interrupts the progress with new worldbuilding and distracting side quests, and the plot gets more lost. Then the arcs start getting shorter and more disconnected. Somewhere in the 40s, I began to think “yeah, sure, that might as well happen, too” about every new development.

The world and the characters do get darker as time goes on, but that’s not the trouble. The trouble is that from very early, MC is revealed to have a secret agenda and to be faking interest in the other characters. Why root for a charmless psychopath? There is no good ending to hope for. The early chapters seem interesting, but later it’s a clear pass. Save yourself the process of losing interest in this self-indulgent grimfest.

Summary: Isekai boy knows he gets a re-do when he dies, so he treats his life of amazing opportunities as a tutorial and then restarts with a world-beating game plan, but a motivation to do so never materializes.
