I will never understand why japanese writers/producers do this. They always explain the motives or background of a villain right before they kill them off, just to show there is a “even greater danger” behind it all. There is no value gained except to visualize in a whole chapter what could have been 2-3 panels and waste production time. They always severely underestimate the intelligence of the reader, even when it’s supposedly aimed at children as audience(which hasnt been true for the last 20 years, mind you) one could easily go “its not over, he couldnt have done this alone” without actually showing the next bad villain and people would be intrigued, there would be more suspense and the artist would’nt be overworked as much and could focus on actual plotlines/character development to get even more engagement. But nooo, reader is stupid, here is big bad villain but he is “obscured” and no one will know who he is because bandages/silhouettes/shadows… i wonder who it could be, probably not that laughin, scheming bastard of the next plotline! Stupid.
