Summary
A brief description of the manga Reincarnation of the Unrivalled Time Mage: The Underachiever at the Magic Academy Turns Out to Be the Strongest Mage Who Controls Time!
Arvis is a poor, low-achieving student at a remote magic school. One day, he was given the impossible task of defeating the smartest student in his school, or else he will be expelled.
Arvis looks after his little sister who’s blind and frail, and depends on the scholarship from the school to survive, so he started training as hard as he could! Not only did he not acomplish anything, he passed out from pushing himself too far.
But then, he had a mysterious dream. In the dream, he was a legendary mage in his previous life, and was using the now extinct time magic to make quick work of demons! When Arvis woke up from the dream, he had the ability to use the legendary time magic?!

From the title, you’d think this would be isekai, but it’s actually a shounen battle-fest. Great art, and the plot moves quickly. But the power are trash, I can’t tell who can do what or the MC’s limitations.
4/10
*slow clap* you told us the story using the title…
This is fun and hilarious. Definitely give it a shot. Not life-changing, but a good read nonetheless.

Bookmarked? Yes (Probably Temporarily).
Once you read the title, were you seriously expecting one of the best works of manga you have read? Of course not. This, like many other mangas, is very gimmicky on said superpower. I’ve read a similar one like this manga with the mc training for some million years, but I ended up dropping it. However, I do have a bit more hope with this one for some reason. To be honest, the art is pretty bad, well, the fight scenes are pretty average, but the character models are the weird part. Most of the faces are very odd if they aren’t a significant character to the story. Along with this, the plot is fast. And when I mean fast, I mean really fast. In the same chapter, the mc struggled, found power, and dominated. To be fair though, the chapter was considerably long but not long enough to justify how rushed it felt. There is no background, no flashbacks, and etc. to build up any connection with the world itself. Oh, and don’t even mention power-scaling because it is virtually nonexistent. With the typical academy manga, the mc is always overpowered, and this one is no different. The process of the mc’s growth has not been shown, but it was told that he learned this blah blah blah. The manga is no different from cliche op mc stories but if there is any saving grace, it would be the comedy and the protagonist having sick magic while being a compassionate person. (I also don’t know why the sister is in the story at all. I know it’s supposed to make us appreciate the mc more, but so far she serves no purpose. I hope she gets an arc with no kidn@pping or secretly having the greatest talent. Otherwise, that will definitely be time to throw this into the dumpster fire). I would also be surprised if this doesn’t end up getting axed or dropped by the translators in the end. But, a man can dream. Read only if you like cliches and gimmicks with school life.
My first manga review (on mangaread) and I wasn’t planning to write a lot but whoopsies.

Unless there is a Christmas miracle/curse, all scores are finalized, and I have an innate bias towards stories with snip-bits of romance
This is good so far
Decent enough, though a fairly typical setting. Classic weak-protagonist-finds-hidden-power story with school setting. Reminds me alittle of MxO, but protagonist actually has power.
