That’s certainly one theory. Another likely theory is there’s an extensive list of the “children gifted in magic” and now that one of them has been outed as a demon then literally all of them would be investigated so they need to go into hiding.
I hate when there are multiple explanations for something yet all the characters and the plot go all-in on one of them for no reason and ignore any other possibility.

that’s a great conclusion. But if they saw how their spy got totally beaten up in a matter of seconds, i think they should calm down in attacking.
