SOLO LEVELING - Chapter 172

Still a thing that irks me about 99% of these stories. Sure, modern weapons have little to no effect (sometimes they work on the lowest rank monsters at a reduced extent, not being “system weapons”) because if tanks can blow away giants and dragons, who needs the fantasy RPG hero types?
If nuking the portals worked, that would end stuff too. Although many choose the logic that nuking the portal in downtown Big City or over Badly Needed Farmland isn’t the smartest thing to do.
Then the humans, with access to all these crystals, stones, metals, beast parts, etc., etc., etc., figure out how to build all kinds of magic items and use the resources to improve every technical field and power civilization, but still, still…
Nobody, especially the Western countries, cannot figure out (again 99% of the time) how to turn that into some kind of firearm or bullet or artillery or grenade or freaking anything that gives soldiers a chance.
They’ve had years (in this case, at least a decade plus) to do something with this and still worthless crap.
One series I read took several years, first with weapon crafters getting about 75% effectiveness by hand crafting individual weapons and eventually getting about 50% effect with limited mass production using magical machinery built by weapon crafters.
Oh, “effect” is based on testing normal firearms against normal targets and seeing the damage with the system/skills, then applying it vs monsters and observing the results.

Harder to write, perhaps, but much more satisfying when troops have some effect besides taking up the time it takes for low level creatures to kill, buying maybe minutes for a hours or days long evacuation.
