Summary
A brief description of the “The Child Loved By God” manga:
The old man, who was a good man in Japan, reaches the end of his life and his soul goes to another world like Lean Olgott, the king’s grandson. One day the boy, brought up and sprinkled with the love of his relatives, noticed that he was called a “Child Loved by God”. He didn’t care about it, forgetting it. Nope, nope, nope. I dropped in chapter 9.
I mean it’s cute and all (though there are some elements of the story I hate), but the “translation” …
Dictionary, meet dart.
Constantly you have to guess the original meaning when, once again, the text doesn’t make any sense in context.
It probably couldn’t be worse if we had given empty bubbles and fill in the text ourselves.
Story also isn’t the highlight of the century.
Story: 6/10
No revelation, and has elements of a religious fever dream.
Art: 7/10
You don’t need eyebleach, but don’t expect a masterwork either. Fast food art. Quick to produce, quick to consume leaves a greasy aftertaste.
Translation: 1/10
Aka.: If you get the raws yourself and use google images translate on it, the result will be better.
As previously said, this had a nice first chapter (or maybe 2 first chapters), but fairly quickly devolved from: “A cute SOL story about this cute kid with a warm family, and there’s magic, how fun~”
And then the author thought it’d be smart to introduce fun and chill concepts like: Religious Corruption, War, beheading….
It’s the whole point of the entire story, I’m sure, but it’s clear that the author had NO idea how to write an SOL story, so resorted to using a villain to “spice it up”, which just ruined the base premise of the entire story.
Also:
The translation is truly, truly god awful.
It’s like it was translated from Japanese to Spanish to Chinese and back to English. Almost 70% of the text from chapter 3-4 just make no sense at all.
TLDR:
Author butchers their own story premise (SOL), translation teams butchers whatever was left.
I dropped it at around chap 10.
