So this is a deep dive into Japanese yokai horror stories with no true explanation for who or what they are without a look into the names. Each name dropped is an actual yokai story you can read about (highly recommend because it helps understand the story way more) and makes the build up a bit more bearable.
To sum it up: MC is able to end the never-ending life of Yokai’s due to his past sin/curse. For that to happen he has to die with his heart being ripped out, which is harder than anything due to him being tied to Shin (ever-looping time yokai) and having overpowered bodyguards who are conflicted on what to do

This is a kinky horror manga, where the plot revolves around a mystery from the MCs past. The kinks include gore and vore, and everyone’s an extreme yandere. Unfortunately, it’s too disconnected from reality to be taken seriously as a horror story. If what’s happening is real, he would have to be in hell, not living on earth. Alternatively, the youkai could be imaginary, manifestations of a budding schizophrenia. That would make perfect sense, it just seems clear that’s not the author’s intent. The story also works well if the youkai are not real, but an allegory for his own sexuality. With a little stretching, you could also see the monsters as an allegory for female love/desire.

All of which is to say, this is artistic enough that you could legitimately interpret it in several ways. It’s very well done for what it is. If only I liked horror stories, I’d be glad I found this. If you like kinky horror, I’d recommend. I’m not planning to finish it, myself.
