Summary
A brief description of the manga Chronicles of the Jobless Hero ~Ousted From the Duke’s Manor, but With Skills Gained Through Punches, I Emerge as the Continent’s Ultimate Hero~
In a world where upon turning 18, individuals are granted a “class” by the gods. The presence or absence of “skills” within the class surpasses any efforts and determines one’s entire future. In this unequal world, Reit, who has trained to become a holy knight, is mercilessly given the class of <Jobless> during the classification process. He is then banished from the city by his father, the Duke.
Struggling to make ends meet as a porter, one day, a merchant caravan is attacked by bandits. Though he fights to save a child, realizing he cannot match the combat skills of the enemy, Reit prepares for death. However, in the moment he lands a punch on one of the bandits as a last act of resistance, a mysterious voice resonates in his head…

Meh… pretty generic.
The MC is labeled as classless in his class selection, but the twist is that being classless allows you to be able to copy the skills of others (seemingly permanently) and have them as your own if you touch someone else with your fist.
I feel like every other character is compelling except for the MC, he’s just been granted a god-like skill but the only real pushback that comes with that is others looking down on him when he’s introduced as classless and being kicked out of his family by his father. Other than that, he’s held favorably by those in high positions, so much so that he could probably ask the princess to remove his father’s baron title and she would.
It’s as if the author indirectly pulled an early-JJK by creating an MC less interesting than the side characters to enhance his character development down the line, but it’s obvious that it wasn’t intentional.
Just to add onto this, his brother, Kite, seems like a much more compelling potential MC. He was ostracized by his father as his mother was from a lower origin. You can see how hard Kite has worked to reach where he is, he has a visibly trained body, and seems intelligent when introduced with the goal to take over the family while holding a resentment over his father. (While none against the MC, at the very least, he seemed very indifferent to the MC.) A few chapters later.. Kite is then portrayed as a salty character against the MC since he became a royal knight faster than him, which really doesn’t matter as his introduction showed us that he was aiming to take over the baron title by inheriting the family head position. (Which he is basically guaranteed as the MC was kicked out of the family and the MC’s father seems to have no interest in bringing him back.)
The antagonists so far all seem to be formatted in the same way, sadly. They’re confident once hearing the MC is classless, then they lose. (His father also fits the bill for this description, he’s just not confronting him in a fight physically, but attempts to use Kite to bring him down.)
TLDR: OP MC who’s looked down on for being classless, when in actuality, it’s the best class which can copy the skills of others. Generic everything.
Review as of chapter 10:
TL;DR:
Seems generic, but by chapter 10, there’s potential. Looking forward to where this goes.
Longer review:
Started off feeling a little generic. MC doesn’t seem to have a limit to skill copying, copying skills doesn’t inhibit the one it was copied from, and skills can be copied with as little as a fist bump.
Conveniently (both for the story and my mental state reading this), he isn’t the usual idiot MC that hides his ability to copy skills from any and everyone, instead actually trusting his childhood friend. So with said childhood friend being of a very powerful class… MC is quickly thrust into a way higher tier of power than your average schmuck once he learns how his powers work.
All that doesn’t set up much that’s all too interesting, imo. However, he hit a wall that just stacking skills can’t overcome. Namely, being in a setting where he can’t use his skills and can only leverage his combat prowess. His own rather formidable skill with the blade is allowed to shine and can be polished.
MC’s power feels like it’s starting to hit a point of more balanced progression. I also imagine there will be more politics and world building, too, where his relationship with his family will be roped back in, especially now that he’s interacting with the royal family as self-made nobility via his knighthood. And a potential love triangle has been established.
Story is getting some meat on it’s bones, ngl.
What’s with the crazy low average score? With only 4 short chapters at present, we’re barely introduced to the character and his first challenge which starts off the story. While there isn’t enough to say where the story will go, it’s not a bad start.
Before judging this manga, I’d wait till probably about chapter 10 at the current pace to see if it’s worth a longer commitment, assuming you like these kinds of fantasy stories with relatively simple premises.
First 4 chapters set up the premise, but they are kind of short.
There’s nothing new or original but it’s competent and I would like to read more to see how it develops
seems pretty generic. Girl who he trains with, competitor with evil smile, rejected by family.. I don’t have high hopes
By the number of jobless manga, I think its safe to assume that Japan is having a MAJOR Jobless problem!
When will bro release new chapters
