I Picked Up A Demon Lord As A Maid

My review, as of chapter 20

This is coming off of a rant I did on that chapter so bear with it if it seems a bit much.

This has to have one of the most contradicting MC’s out there. He says he doesn’t want to be the hero, he want’s to be the backup. All the perks, none of the work. So he tries to hide his power enough to get to that point. But he’s constantly proving that he has more talent than the current hero candidate to everyone who see’s him. He makes a big deal about hiding his power and then goes through the effort of hiding something that he’s clearly already revealed to everyone. What’s worse is that is that the people who he’s trying to hide his powers from, and failed to, just seem to forget about what he did and everyone just carries on like it was nothing.

The plot, don’t even get me started on it. Frankly because I don’t even know where to start. This thing has like 8 different subplots that just pickup and go nowhere and expect you to remember it for later because ooooh its gonna come up somewhere we just gotta wait and look for it. I don’t even think there’s a coherent plot line to follow, things just happen and we’re expected to follow, but everything happens so fast and we’re given no time to digest any of it before the next thing happens.

This thing has a comedy tag, really? Where, I hadn’t noticed any so far. I think that pretty much sums that up.

The only entertaining character I can find is the Demon lord herself. She seems to have been given the most personality and is the easiest to connect to and is honestly, really adorable in many of her scenes. Everyone else seems to be cardboard cutouts with either generic, bland, or stereotypical personalities, sometimes all 3 if you’re unlucky enough.

For reasons of possible madness I will continue reading. Maybe its just the frustration at the mc that spawned this review, but I will continue to give it a fair reading to see if they do wind up fixing it. I am not hopeful.
