Leveling With The Gods

Ok so this is actually a very interesting manga and I would say that it really does just border on greatness, however it simply is not sustainable, making it a 7/10.

To start lets list the positives, the fight scenes are very flashy and impactful and the characters almost always have valid reasons for their actions, and though real life combat is never used that doesn’t really matter for this exact manga. The level pacing isn’t bad and much of the plot does seem planned, Additionally the MC not being a fking psycho does wonders and isn’t as arrogant as most of the newer MCs. This creates a fair underdog story where the audience is almost always with our MC and that makes things straight forwards and more easy to write a good story.

However there is also a fair bit of criticism for this Manga as well. For one the MC’s personality has essentially been erased, I mean there’s some of it left however most of it is just determination, which is good in fight scenes but really hard to relate to in our current society. secondly some of the fights are lazily made, like how the zombies are weak to salt, or how the Olympus god hypno had such no plan against a clear anomaly. not only that but the MC’s powers are simply too simple, to a certain extent that’s a good thing but to elivate a manga they need to add depth to make fights at least seem losable. And oh yea the fights do not feel losable after a certain point, all of his powers are usable and useful from the get and they never really have any special synergy rather just stat checking the opposition.

And the biggest problem of all is the premise I get it, we all love a good leveling story, it incapislates a rags to riches story but in a world of fantasy where the odds are just as stacked against the little guy as irl however that is extremely limited when the MC is basically omniscient knowing all that he has to, really driven and clear minded which means 0 mental struggles, expert in his fighting style meaning no need for guidance and a seemingly perfect base to start upon. The silver lining is the outer god in his pocket that could create some variability but in the end the story is really hard to progress unless hella sh*t goes south. I’m talking hifiestis dying, with zeus knowing his exact location, plus the outer gods fking cutting off his arm or some sh*t otherwise its really hard to bring any change and becomes a very predictable and marry sue story.

However this is still a good story, with compelling relationships and interesting factions, overall its a 7/10 but based on your taste it could very well be higher not only that but its a great starting point for those that just started reading as its easy to understand and the MC is very obviously badas*
