I received my test results, where two words stuck out in devastating clarity. [No Talent] It was something I’d already known, but it stung a little more than usual today. Was I lacking in effort or talent? Or both?

Was it my fault that I was living like this, or was it society’s? In the years since Players, Streamers, Guardians, dungeons, and monsters became a part of our everyday life, my sister died from leukemia trying to support me, and my mom passed away from a disease we couldn’t afford to treat.

I went to sleep, and when I woke up the next morning to continue my futile life, I found… that I had somehow gone 10 years back in the past, to the day the world changed. While going through the Tutorial, I realized something. Everything’s too easy. Was I really talentless?

This manhwa has no resemblance to the summary, except for the first five lines. Everything after that is BS and belongs to some other manhwa. There is no regression, no indication of being talentless in any way. And three chapters in the game forces him to be the leader of the demonic clan.

A solid 8/10

Originally, I was putting this off because it didn’t look like it would be worth the time but the premise is really interesting, if not a little unstable at times. (They haven’t covered the world building very well so far.) The premise builds off of modern day Korea, with a unique relationship between the game’s world and the real world – items from the game can enter reality – which explains why the population genuinely cares about the game, rather than the game being a cool little thing to pass the time, it’s a necessity, a lifeline to most and something that ends up harming a lot of people – something it definitely holds over other stories like Overgeared.

The only qualms I have are the romance aspects. It doesn’t feel like the relationship between the MC and the supposed main love interest will ever begin even though the world is set up to encourage it.

I had to stop. While there are aspects of the story I liked, in the end it can’t decide if it wants to another VR-focused story or one where said VR abilities get brought into the real world. It isn’t consistent about this, and never explains it (at least of the latest chapters 77/78).

It just gives off the fealing that the writer doesn’t really know what kind of story they want to write, so they just keep adding things in.

And I’ve gone full circle. Still prefer it when the MC is a female, but obviously people struggle to create strong female protagonists that have neither a harem of manipulative dudes, nor some cold blooded Duke or a CEO literally named Duke Winters. There is always so much God forsaken GROWLING whenever someone even says something against the MC. That’s the main reason I started to avoid romances, or Chinese novels in general, as they tend to have an unsightly view of independent females that I do not agree with.

Obviously, there are exceptions to all this, where a novel might have a good ol’ cold blooded FMC who avoids romance and sex, deals with people analytically, and solves all her issues through bloodshed and/or manipulation. The annoying thing is that, despite my hatred for the current romance genre clichés, there are times when I’m absolutely LIVID that some sort of romance just doesn’t occur, especially when the characters bond so well. Then there is the fact that, in the current typical romance genre, if there is a perfectly good relationship between FMC and some dude that isn’t even all that bad, big bad Duke or CEO comes in and either growls at him until he runs away, or snatches FMC like some weird gremlin.
And people think that’s charming. “Aw he kidnapped her from happiness for the umpteenth time! He must REALLY like her!”

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! You know? I just want to find those authors and give them tinnitus.

Read to chapter 18 but I have to stop it’s getting so bad. Had potential at the start but boring overpowered mc. Strong allies, weak enemies. Plot holes, bad game logic, bad world building. MC just gets power ups for existing, if there are any threats it’s taking wayyyyy to long to introduce them. 3/10
