Summary
A brief description of the manhwa One Step Divine Fist:
Born as the son of a wealthy family, ‘Jang Geon’ was destined for ruin. To turn his fate around, he had to live a simple life under the guidance of a virtuous monk.
Given to the frugal monk ‘Gyeongmok’ at Shaolin Temple, Jang Geon spent his days in rough cotton robes, barely getting by on plain rice…
While enduring hunger and minimizing movement in his daily life, he stumbled upon martial arts and managed to apply his mindset of thrift to it…?

The story goes nowhere, the MC and everyone around him have underdeveloped brains, neither does the author.
author mastered the art of ragebaiting and blue balling.
Imagine the following scenario: your girlfriend is Adriana Lima in her 20s, but some magical force makes it impossible for you to have sex with her.
That’s how you feel by reading this.
that’s why it’s 1 star for me, but i just can’t stop at least skimming through the updates hoping for any redemption (it’s not happening tho).
so… that’s my honest review. you can now decide what to do
This shit is ass
If you can’t take rage baits this not for you
I don’t know why but I really loved the first like 20 chapters but then it went downhill to the point that I was happy seeing the “Manga Info” button which was the first time it happened.
I finished at chapter 60, hope it gets better.
This has became such a bs plot that at this point is nothing more than a confusing rage bait “thing”. I finished chap 60 and this is it. Good luck for those staying.
Last time i heard about one step divine fist technique it Didn’t go that well with mount hua nor mwrtial world and the ending was shit
Very grounded story writing.
No aura farming.
Not many digitally edited, epilepsy inducing colourful fights and slow burn story.
MC is honest and borderline autistic in terms understanding the world.
Each character has their own motivations leading to politics and complicated drama– and obviously teenagers in the comment sections do not like that lmao.
maybe if they threw in some flashy fights and some oppai, it would satiate their adhd and help to focus on the plot
The fall of shaolin and buddhism. A refreshing change of pace, since christiany is overrated for being villain
I judt love this story, but it stops abruptly at ch. 44.
From the comments it seems mist people do not like this story and only gets annoyed. There are annoying people in the story, but I find that to be a true reaction to what is happening. A genius child asking questions all the time tend to drive most grown ups crazy, they do get frustrated, angry and act up in really immature ways, hurting the child who do not understand what it is doing wrong. Seing these things happen in real life feels even worse, but having this story to relate to is helpful.
If I had to summarize this manhwa with one word, it would be “annoying.”
Apologies, but I’ve stopped reading at chapter 44. The adults at the Shaolin temple were just too frustrating. I like a slow paced progression story, but the challenges that the mc is facing feel farfetched. These shaolin monks feel like nonsense antagonists.
- The main character lacks any real goal besides having to adapt within the confines of awful luck and bad guardians.
- While I like the character’s design, and some parts of his personality, he feels like a robot learning to interact with humans rather than a child his age. Like a Steve Urkle-esque creator who will do something amazing and then go “Why is everybody so weirded out?”
- All of the Shaolin guardians around him are either aggressively against him and trying to break him physically (like literally break him) which seems bonkers, or are “helping him” but teaching him but then never communicating to the other monks what has happened. They just call him a “genius” and tell them to leave him alone, as if that’s enough.
And why are my points only about these monks? Because for all of these darn chapters, that’s all it’s been about. There’s been a visit from a grand father and a girl from a renowned family, but it led nowhere, and now he’s made some friends of the younger adepts, but the older monks are still talking about breaking him.
If you want a non-regression story about a genius, then I would 100% suggest “Surviving as a Genius on Borrowed Time” much more. It’s fast paced, the action is great, and while the story isn’t much, I’ve waited every week for the next chapter.
I’ve never seen a worse case of squandered potential than this. MC has a 1 in a 10000 years talent and they are not developing him just cause “it’s not a shaolin martial arts”. Like wtf? The Shaolin martial arts is the best in the world? This is ass development. Never reached nowhere MC might as well leave.
Its actually decent but majority of ‘adults’ in this manhwa are retards so it can get pretty frustrating. They know the MC is genius but they get angry, attack him, or just plain dismiss him when he does genius stuff.
Not sure if I will recommend this, but it is worth a try to see if you can tolerate the level of retardness and see how its somehow still decent despite all that.

the author has actually done something incredible with this story, ive never seen a story like this its so bad how does someone sit down and come up with such, and the thing is if you remove the ragebait and brain dead idiots from this story it would actually be decent.
