Summary
A brief description of the manga Genius Martial Arts Trainer:
[By the Studio that brought you <Surviving The Game as a Barbarian> and <The Player Hides His Past> and <Heavenly Grand Archive’s Young Master, and many more!>]
During the great pandemic, my gym went under. While desperately trying to make ends meet, I possessed a character in Murim. I was excited to see that I was in the Shaolin Temple, but what the hell? Everyone’s bodies are wrecked from working out the wrong way! How can I just sit back and watch when I used to be a personal trainer?! I’ll teach you the correct, modern exercise methods and heal you all with low-frequency treatment and infrared therapy using inner energy! X Days until the Shaolin Gym opens.

10/10 Good Read. Only problem is that it’s too short. We need a Mass Release. 😭👌
Ah, Muscle Joseon. But Chinese Murim. Let’s check if it’s any good. 🤔😋
If only the author dont do original story from certain trope, prolly we would see refreshing stuff every chapter
Baldy’s basics in the gym, everyones annoying not my cup of tea
This is very good only problem is that it has not that many chapters
I’ve read up to chapter 10, which is all that’s been posted at the time of this review.
As an amateur who’s recently gotten into weight lifting, I really want to enjoy this story, but it’s a mess.
One of the bigger issues I have with the story telling… is that everyone is YELLING all the time. This wouldn’t be an issue if there was something absolutely profound happening to warrant all the over the top reactions… but the story has been devoid of the sort of conflicts that would call for it. The over use of overreactions drains it of its significance when the story would actually call for something dramatic.
Next, the story feels like it spends nearly as much time on physical therapy (Good!) as it does magic breathing (meh). Proper breathing techniques are important when exercising. Breath out when exerting. Breath in when releasing. But this story doesn’t even make that tenuous connection. It’s just grinding filler that permeates the Isekai genre.
Then there’s the character designs. Everyone has the same uniform, with the same haircut, and is the same gender. The artist tries to address this issue by giving characters different eye colors and eyebrow designs, but it’s still extremely difficult to tell the faculty, upperclassmen, and peers apart. This would not be an issue in a novel, but in illustrated form, this is a big issue.
Overall, I think if the premise for “Genius Martial Arts Trainer” still fascinates you, I think “Dungeon Athlete” executes the same general concepts better.
Gym rat approved
good
This Manhwa is incredibly enjoyable to read, and the artwork is appealing. It shows great potential; hopefully, it won’t be discontinued.
Woah, a good studio
Realistically, a 1000 year old institution would have already evolve far better than how MC is pointing out the mistakes of their methods.
3 out of 5 from me.
insufferable mc surrounded by even more insufferable characters imo, not my cup of tea
as a certified gymrat this one is banger
I have hope for this one
