Living In This World With Cut & Paste

So, it took two weeks to get through the first hundred chapters, because it’s kind of grindy, and then I quit, because it had just become completely silly. From around chapter 70 it’s just all swooshy punching with occasional irrelevant melodramatic flashbacks. Certainly by chapter 90, the OP level-ups spiral so far out of control that there are no stakes left and none of the consequences correspond to the actions. Worse, there are still at least two levels of BBEG above the current antagonist, who is completely unbeatable. His magic automatically negates and then erases every power used against him, so anyone who tries to attack him in any way does no damage and is nerfed to have no powers and also their powers automatically become his and their energy feeds his Doomsday Machine which is already complete and also unstoppable. I assume after another twenty chapters he will be stopped by one blow from the power of friendship, and the already destroyed world will become undestroyed, hooray.

I read this far because the central mechanic was an interesting idea before it all spiraled, and because the art and some of the characters were kind of charming. By chapter 100 I couldn’t tell people apart and it kind of didn’t matter, and I don’t find swooshes charming at all. Also, like Midnim said, MC starts competent and relatable but contracts a fatal case of Pusillanimous MC Dementia. I didn’t hate the first half, so maybe read that, but don’t let this lowest common denominator failure of a book contribute to ruining manga for you.

Summary: At the age 15 blessing ceremony, MC gets skills that are normally pedestrian, but in this combo, they let him rewrite reality. Like the red Infinity Stone, author eventually realises it’s so OP that MC should never face a challenge under any circumstances, so he stops using it, even though it would easily end the story in short order.
