The story starts off good, but after 80 chapters, it becomes boring. MC didn’t show much action and it feels like a boring slice of life with not much content.
Judging a whole series based on a few chapters is quite a reach. But I will say that he’s very lackluster but there’s a reason. His past in the imperial palace as a mere scholar where he dedicated more than a decade to the prince’s project only to retire never seeing him or getting any proper acknowledgment for his work. A true frog in a well despite being a dragon of apocalypse. He’s the main reason there’s chaos in murim as the chapters progress. His skills are worthy of being called the sword god but what use if one doesn’t recognize his strength
This should be slice of life scholar in swordsman world. 🥺
If you are a masochist then go read this, this manhwa have great potential in early chapter but duuh, the MC got no Balls!! He will not fight i repeat he will not fight!! He will just got messed around and not angry at all. He is the opposite of alpha male. I read manhwa to read the greatness of the mc not this shit
The story is good at the early start since he was giving words of wisdom with his big brain knowledge but after that he just becomes dense I know his a scholar he doesn’t like fighting but goddamn how dense are you and after that his just like a genius martial artist who’s a next sword saint overall the story is good you just need to bear with the story and mc getting tossed around
10/10 it will not disappoint you
The begining is original with great potential, but halfway the MC becomes a f*cking ball thats being kicked around by others. The worst thing is, he knows but is too nice to be angry at them
While I definitely enjoy this manhwa and I like the MC, as he is a smart person and wise enough to help enlighten others, I with he would be able to see what’s going on around him. But this chapter definitely answered some of those questions as he isn’t trying to gain power, he just wants to be one with the world
I’ll call this chapter a win. The mc actually swung once!
nothing to say 3.5/5
No important characters.
The author only knows how to write one archetype, “overly confident side character that looks down on MC”
You’re introduced to characters that will come and go without a purpose besides to undermine the MC.
That would be fine since a lot of other webtoons are similar if it wasn’t for the fact that…
No fight will feel satisfying to the point that even the translators are tired of it (chapter 57 note). Most fights end before they start. Someone will always interfere to prevent the MC from fighting.
No plot at all.
The rule for this is that whenever there’s more than 6 characters talking that doesn’t include the MC, you can just skip it. Making up some story in your head should be sufficient since there really isn’t a plot. At the minimum, you can just go with “there’s murim conflict.”
What is the MC doing? Who knows, he doesn’t. He just roams around.
Started off very very promising but it now at a 2/5 for being 58 chapters with nothing to stand on.
This story is the equivalent of edging for about a week. We’re all still waiting for a big payoff that hasn’t come yet. As of chapter 57, the MC has still yet to see a significant amount of action. What we have seen so far has been incredibly quick, usually wrapped up in half a chapter.
Not my cup of tea so to speak. The MC is a beginner and even tho he has high battle IQ, i feel that he doesn’t really have the proper mindset and conviction for it.
Also he has this prejudice that the Murim should be all good & fair and he wants to reach the peak of the sword without killing anyone. Quite naive frankly but thankfully the author is gradually opening his eyes to the reality albeit slow imo.
I may come back to this hopefully once he get more hardened and have proper character development later on.
Lmao the MC just read a bunch of matial arts books and next thing you know, he’s already more knowledgeable & experienced than most people who practice martial arts all their lives? C’mon now author, that’s the most bullshit asspull that I’ve read in a while.
What’s more, as expected of a scholar, he’s quite adverse to violence and think all life is precious even those evil people who will do him harm.
