Just leaving this here since I have nothing else to say (other than the anime is epic espacially the music):
The face of the shield hero on this cover art makes him look like he juste stepped on a Lego.

At chapter 112 now, and although I am still reading, I’m bored and annoyed. It got a lot better for a while, with various baddies getting exposed and defeated, and MC starting to have a relationship with FMC, and some hints that it might be turning into a harem (not that I was rooting for a harem, it just kept me wondering what MC would choose and how it would hit FMC). But since then, it’s devolved into a Bog Standard Shonen Punch-Up. Every week, new magic enemies arrive, exchange magic punches with MC and crew, and then caper off snickering evilly and swearing they’ll get him next time, my pretties.
I’m currently bored and disinterested. None of the characters are growing, instead they get better numbers and throw better magic punches that still don’t hurt anything. There are no real relationships between characters. Nothing is about to happen except more punching. New characters are joining constantly, but there are so many that none of them have a meaningful story, just one memorable trait per character. If anyone could suffer a real loss, or fall in love, or go through a hard time and become friends, I’d still recommend this. As it is, I’d say it’s better not to set yourself up for the disappointment.
I don’t hate this, but it’s frustrating. I’m at chapter 20, so I won’t rate it yet. The MC is constantly petulant and pointlessly hostile, and it seems like the author thinks that proves how cool he is? But it just makes two-thirds of his problems his own fault. And he had plenty of problems to start, with a wide-ranging conspiracy against him. But he responds to false allegations and injustices alike by saying, more or less, “Fine, be that way! I’ll just go hurt my few friends and then you’ll be sorry! Also, please take my belligerent refusal to answer you as confirmation of my guilt. I refuse to give anyone the impression that I’m innocent!” It’s childish and ridiculous, and it makes it nearly impossible to root for the MC.
This is overrated. The story starts off good, naofumi here grinding to get revenge on malty. Some character development and shit. After changing malty’s name to bitch, this shit lost me. Most of the new characters(including naofumi and his female companions) are unlikable. Hell, I even like L’arc’s gang more than naofumi’s group! So much plot armor and power of friendship tropes. Rishia gets plot armor, Naofumi’s always getting calmed down by filo and raphtalia before he uses rage shield. I know damn well Keel(Raphtalia’s demi-human friend) likes raphtalia. And I hate that. Hes a kid, and shes an adult. Overall, this shit wild. Naofumi gettin’ slaves like its Minecraft, plot armor is passed around like the school thot, and little Keel tryna get play from his childhood friend.
