A brief description of the manga Until the Chore Granting Sorcerer Realized That He Is At His Strongest:
Wimme Strauss is a spellcaster who specializes in supporting allies. However, when he defeats a boss, he is kicked out of the group. Wimme is at a loss, but his childhood friend (and part-time stalker) Heidemarie finds him and recruits him into the largest group, Wings of the Dragon. He claims his achievement was a fluke, but it’s only a matter of time before those around him realize what he’s truly capable of.
When I started reading this, it was so full of promise to me, then the translations kept getting even more nonsensical (typical of manhwa freak), at one point they literally repeated the same pages over two (maybe three) chapters, that was it for me. I’m not saying the manga is crap, it’s just the translation got so bad I couldn’t read on, kudos to anybody who can stomache the ineptitude of the scanlators, I’m not so forgiving.
Finally. I thought they abandoned it.
This starts confusing but keeps dropping hints that there are mysteries to be unraveled, and it has begun to deliver. MC has a very annoying trait that connects to a traumatic backstory that isn’t yet revealed (chapter 30 so far), it’s overplayed for a while but does have an explanation. The characters are fun and not too simple, the world feels big, the plot keeps going new places, the villains are complex. The magic system is rich and consistent.
The real star, however, is the artwork. Some of the best monster designs I’ve seen, they are consistently creative and detailed. Also, they feel like real creatures twisted by a dark power, not just magic inventions. Action scenes don’t make me want to skip pages, either.
I have come to like this a lot and even feel invested in it. I recommend you give it a try, and even though it drags early on, you should aim to at least get to chapter 20.
Summary: MC is a “grantor”, a type of mage limited to buffs. The buffs are limited, so granting is not respected, so it is poorly understood, which makes it even more limited. MC has genius enough to reveal the true power of granting, but also some other, darker stuff going on. Yandere childhood friend is determined to see him shine but may also have a darkness under the surface
This one definitely grew on me. Not bad.

… so I’d recommend giving both of them a miss.

has some dark undertones, but very very unique in concept, as I don’t think I have ever seen a manga with the same kind of ability. Badass and really cool, 11/10, I can’t recommend it enough. But realistically 10/10 since it took FOREVER to update. still top tier though

I’m sorry, but, from the first panel I already wanted to drop this, and following after the next panel it shows the MC is wimpy. Combination of wimpy and fuhihi smirk is a typical creepy character, a typical Japanese character that needs help mentality. And following after that, the kicked from party trope. Ah, no thanks, it’s hard to read. Seems like manga can’t write anything other than toxic tropes.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the final boss for this series is a manifestation of his self doubt. Don’t know if there is a more powerful (and infuriating to read) force on this planet 🤣
Very good expelling the best party member story. Worth a read if into that style since the art and translation are rather top notch.
The only bad side: chapters are super spliced so each one feels super short. Each one is cut into 3 which can be rather annoying.
