Is what the first chapter couple chapters sets up, so I think the people wanting that got excited then disappointed when that wasn’t the case

That’s not what this story is.

This story reads different from all other mangas, so if you want something with a unique feel this is great. It’s not a ‘forever story’ that’s meant last forever, but progress towards the end is actually being made, and this story will have an ending. Things happen quickly. There’s no ‘Oh we shouldn’t kill, killing is wrong and would make me the bad person’ kind of BS logic. Everyone is fighting to live. Things are much more gray than black and white. Feels like lots of thought was put in ahead of time to things that happen later opposed to most stories where they just think about one thing at a time and random things happen.

First of all, it’s a twist on the isekai genre. It has non-linear storytelling elements. It has multiple protagonists and antagonists that you’re going to follow. It’s not complicated, but the tone is different. The author uses the typical isekai tropes and setpieces to tell a different kind of story about the horrors of war and conflict.

Secondly, do NOT read the comments after you finish each chapter. That is unless you really want to hear the impotent whining of a dozen manbabies who showed up thinking this would be Mushoku Tensei. Literally crying and pooping their diapers with rage because there’s no power fantasy porn for them to stroke it to. “Where are the loli waifus? Why isn’t MC wiping the floor with everybody he meets? Why won’t the author spoon-feed me the plot and explain the metaphors and allegories? Why won’t mommy cook my chicky nuggies right?” This story is not that difficult to follow. These people are just intensely stupid.

Just curious…
So he wants to make the Sword Hero the Demon King, so that he can die at the hands of the Sword Hero.
But wouldn’t it be easier to just become the Demon King himself and then let the Sword Hero kill him?

I realized it probably should mention that the flashbacks are partially or mainly a issue in this story.
I’m gonna read this story from start to finish either when the story is complete or when a lot of chapters have been released ( at least I hope, I’ve skipped the flashbacks 2 times now)
I’m gonna try and force myself to to see if the flashbacks are worth reading contrary to my disdain for it.
I just couldn’t bring myself to read any of them except the one involving the power ranger hero and the key hero.

SO basically hero of return orchestrated all this to make the sword hero become demon king so the hero of return can die. THE REASON WHY is because he cannot die of old age, death by suicide, etc. Only a demon king can kill him so he can’t revive. He does this because he is slowly going crazy and doesn’t want to be responsible for 8 billion people’s lives. Keep in mind he had died over a hundred-thousands of deaths. He also lived a good life with his own family and making one as well but after death of old age, he just comes back in time to see everything revert to the moment he came back to earth again, with his wife forgetting everything which lead to depression for a while. So he basically isn’t the villian, he just suffered way too much. Anyone would go crazy after experiencing his story. He’s basically Subaru in a sense.

Idk why people are trashing this, it’s AWESOME
The story telling literally connects each point and the designs and fights are impeccable. The can connect with each and every character regardless evil or good. This also represents the line “villians aren’t born, their made.”
The reason why this Manga has low rating is because of kids who can’t understand how the story goes because they just want Mc to have a harem and op skills
I forgot to mention this Manga has no literal Mc yet as everything is still building up for the conclusion. The battles and deaths make you tear up and empathize with all characters.
Overall
10/10 story telling
9/10 art style
10/10 characters (even side characters)
